Lake Plantagenet Eagles Aerie and Poppies

Recommended Posts

I was fighting the rise and fall of a pontoon, midday light, and not having the big gun lens, but I will share it anyway. It was fun to see.

The poppies were beautiful at Lake Plantan., and the number of ladyslipper plants on the property were just incredible. (Not in bloom, of course) Must have something to do with looking up at the lake from the cabin.

Oh yes, tons of hummers one evening. Didn't have the light for shutter speed or a tripod, but got some practice in anyway.

Eagle sightings like that are always neat to see, even without a camera. I don't know if I've ever seen a poppy. It almost looks like it has thorns on it's stem.

I really like the hummer. His whole body appears to be vibrating except for his head, which is quite sharp. His wings and tail feathers are moving so fast that it looks like a double image of those parts. A slower shutter speed really gives a different perspective.
