Fertilizer drop spreader

Anyone else having trouble with drop spreader clogging up when trying to lay weed control fertilizer when grass is wet. You have to lay it down when grass is wet so it sticks. Spreader kicks up water from grass causing the exiting fertilizer to get wet, thus clogging it. Maybe my grass is to long.

Shizzy I think he means the holes are getting wet at the bottom of the spreader. Happens once in a while with the spreaders at work, only when its raining at the time though. One piece of advice gold.....drop spreaders in general don't work nearly as well as quality broadcast spreaders. They are very outdated and rarely used any more just because they don't apply the product as well as the broadcast type. If you will be doing your own fertilizing for many years I would pick up a quality broadcast speader and it will eliminate the problem. (Unless you are stubborn like us and work in the rain!)
