Using touch-up paint

I noticed I have a couple small nicks on my boat. When I bought the boat I was given a tube of touch-up paint for this purpose...

The nick goes to the aluminum. My question is can I just apply the paint to the nick or is there some prep work I need to do? Primer or such?
