Sonar opinions

My console sonar unit is beginning to show signs of decay. Every once in a while it blanks out, can't find bottom, etc. Usually, I just turn it off and reboot and all is well. It's a Lowrance X-51.

I like the unit, it does most anything I want it to do but when the time comes to replace it, I'm not sure which way I'll go. I have another sonar on my bow mount, Lowrance X-67C and I like that one too.

There are a lot of different brands and models out there, each with their own unique characteristics. I was wondering what you all like to use. What do you like about them and what don't you like. I'm not interested in a GPS/Sonar combo, just a sonar unit.

One brand that has been mentioned to me before is Raytheon.

Recently the Birds have been tuff to beat for the price. Go check out some units and get the one you like and can afford. There is a lot of the old Ford VS Chevy stuff when it comes to fishing gear.
