scope adjustment

I have a Bushnell sportview scope app. 20 years old. The top adjustment knob is for elevation adjustmens. I am hitting a little low. What way do I turn the adjustment to move my shot up???? I belive that 1 click = 1/2 inch but the sticker that said what way to move it is worn off.

Most of them are clockwise turn to lower the sight. counter to raise it. So if you shoot low you want to lower the sight so the gun barel has to be raised to sight properly. That is my experience. Hope I understood you right.
