marine_man
I probably should have been more thorough in my explanation of checking the plugs - if they're fine, no need to replace them. I was wondering if they were wet (indicating the cylinder was flooded).marine_man
scsavre
yep, a few of them were wet. the motor just started good again. and ran good. a bit more smoke coming out than normal, likely the carb cleaner and stuff buring through. i guess i will wait longer and try it again. is it bad to run at high speed with the earmuffs on rahter than in the water. broken_line
dont run it much over 20% you will over rev it cuz there is no water to resist the motor like reving your car in nutral.. also your hose might not supply enough water to sustain cooling. marine_man
Now that you think you've got it running well, I'd head to the lake for the reasons broken line stated above... the water will give some backpressure to the exhaust, making the motor work a little more. Also, if it's still smoking pretty good, and that's a new development, you may be running too rich and may need to adjust each needle by the same amount, and make the engine run leaner (less fuel).marine_mna
scsavre
i let it sit all weekend, more of the same today. it was difficult to start. when it fires up, it goes for about 10 seconds, runs real fast and then kills.
broken_line
to lean.. richen it wayy out so it sputters then lean it out till the sputtering stops. its best to do this at the lake if you can putz around to get it warmed up then adjust the carbs
scsavre
sweet, i think it is working. i brought it way down. no more smoking and the flooding seems to have stopped. thanks. still a little hard to start cold. but it always was.
