shorefishing for cats: near the cities

I'm really pumped up about catching some cats this summer and till now, have only caught football sized channels in the Mississippi. Am not looking for any your "amazing spots" but could someone let me know of some good spots to shorefish for larger channels and/or flatheads? Am near uptown and often fish coon rapids dam, ford dam and other places on the river but am getting frustrated with catching just small walleye and little kitties.

You have some decent spot right there that you have mentioned. I would just step up the bait size, and you should have some good luck on a fatty or two,
