  1. CornPirate, I did the same thing. I let them back pull in and back out of the garage since they where about 11, then up and down the driveway. I let them drive anything with a motor like lawn mowers and boats. They need practice on how a vehicle balances, responds (or doesn't), and simply steering. Knock on wood, they are 25 and 21 and no accidents.
  2. Trading Dougy was the best move the Twins could possibly have made at this time, icluding trading for anyone...and I mean anyone. Dougy couldn't stand seeing that sweet swing of Moreau's and went off the deep end last week. He completely lost his perspective and quite a bit of his dignity. He had become a cancer to the team and was rightfully extracted. Cheers to Terry Ryan for pulling it off in the 11th hour. And yes, I am a die hard Twins fan.

    Baseball Talk

Tom, Have to disagree with you...the sooner the Twins can replace Dougie BB the sooner they have a chance to win in the post season. Yes, he has a fantastic glove and footwork. This team in particular can't afford his lack of production at the plate. Another team with more power at other postions might be able to compensate, not this team. He may be a great guy and you enjoyed fishing with him, but he is not a major league first baseman. Pete
  4. Twitter, I am very interested in the thermostats you mentioned. If you don't want to post the info here please contact me at rvvrrat at hotmail dot com. Thx! Pete
  5. Pics to me too please. Would be great if you posted the model years of the items too so everyone doesn't aske the same question. rvvrrat@hotmail.com
  6. You need to score the aluminum with an acid (phosphoric?) before painting or else the paint won't hold very well. This is from personal experience of not doing the scoring.
  7. Does anyone else see this behavior: Click on a profile. A new window comes up with the profile. Close that window. Back out of the forum to the "main forum window"...now ALL topics have been updated as read (no yellow light bulb on), so I don't what subjects and items I've read.
  8. One thing you might want is a very good pair of hiking boots. Whitewater has many trails and some of the views are spectacular. When you visit you'll have found a hidden gem in the Mn State park system.

    "Fizzing" ?????

This might answer some questions about fizzing. http://www.state.sd.us/gfp/divisionwildlife/fishing/Info/Catchrelease.htm
  10. I don't think I would tie off to ANYTHING while in the locks...
  11. I bought a brit from a trainer some time ago. He did this with all his pups...fire a 22 blank pistol while they are eating. It does two things...they are so excited to eat they don't flinch at the shots and they associate the sound of gunfire with something good. I never had to do anything after that.
  12. Thanks for all the input guys. The ceiling only has 4" of insulation because a floor was installed on the trusses for storage. I know this is not much insulation, but it is all I could get between the 2x4s. I have a question for those of you using propane...do you use the portable tanks or did you go with a stationary tank outside the garage? Again, for me this will be occasional use...maybe 5-6 days a month.
  13. I have a 26x26 garage that I am insulating (6" wall, 4" ceiling insulation) and will use as a workshop. I don't need heat all the time and it doesn't have to maintain 80 degrees. I will not use kerosene just becasue of the smell. I am getting out of the wood game also. Any suggestions on a good electric/propane heater? I know I'm asking a lot, but it sure would be nice if it was somewhat quite too.
  14. I have a three season cabin that has no heat at all in the winter except a wood buring stove for when I am there. I leave my TV there all the time and it is always fine, whether turned on when cold or after warming up. I'm cheap and would save the 10 bucks.
  15. I tried, but I can't resist commenting on the issue of closing our borders or restricting immigration. My first question is: "If you are not a native American, how do you think your ancestors got here?" Geez, do we forget how much legal immigrants have contributed and continue to contibute to this great nation? Let alone their progeny? These very few people are/were a bunch of nuts. It isn't that hard to enter the country illeaglly anyway. Just thank God our ancestors had the guts to leave their homeland in search of something better.
  16. ew6, Here is a link to an article in the Pioneer Press about the southern duck season changes. http://www.pioneerpress.com/outdoors/out_docs/162205.htm rvvrrat
  17. This discussion reminds me why I stick to my 870's for swamp guns...never have jams no matter what shells I use. Use a 20ga Browning semi for pheasants that is fussy as heck which shells were in it...only got Remington's to work consistently.
