overdalimit
Anybody ever own a wooden boat (i.e. 21 foot runabout) and if so what was your experiance with it. I know that they have a reputation as being alot of work but what about one that has been completely restored?
DonBo
Look inside the hull real good to make sure all the framing and stringers are in good shape. Make sure there is no rot. Poke around with a knife or screwdriver along all the edges for any soft spots. Cosmetic stuff on the outside of the boat is just that, cosmetic. This can be fixed but rot is a different thing altogether and should be your main concern. Some minor soft spots can be repaired with a bit of work but anything more and you may want to reconsider. It can all be fixed, repaired or replaced, but may be quite expensive. That said, a well cared for wood boat can be a joy to ride in and look at.
