Lund Boat Covers

5 posts in this topic

I'm looking for some opinions on what I should do with my cover. I have been told that when I travel I will need to take my bow-mount and the console windshield off in order for the cover to fit properly.
Because I don't want to hassle with doing that I am thinking about altering the cover itself.
I have a concern about adding new seams to the cover and by doing so I will weaken it, making it easier to tear.
1. Should I go thru the hassle and take things off?
2. Should I have it altered?
3. Any recommendations on who could do the altering?

I appreciate any suggestions from my FORUM FRIENDS! Thanks and GOOD FISHING

I would just take the cover off while traveling That is what I do. I don't know why everyone thinks that the boat need to be covered going down the road. The cover flapping around going down the road just weakens the cover. AJ

I would put a quick disconnect mount on the trolling motor. It works great and only takes a couple of minutes to remove or mount the motor.
The windshields also are quickly and easily removed.
Just store them on the floor under the cover.
The cover also will deter those rotten thieves that seem to be everywhere!!

Have a custom cover made. I did not take the Lund cover when I got my boat. I had a custom cover made and it is reinforced in the areas it needs to be, like the windshield, trolling motor and corners. I am very glad I went this route and the price is about the same.ScottS

I just bought a new Lund also and had the same problem. I took my boat to tarps inc. In savage an had them add material to my cover to fit over the trolling motor, windshield, and Kicker. It is warantied so you don't have to worry about it. They also reinforce everything they do. They did a great job on my cover. By brother also had his done about five years ago and he has not had any problems. I would just go ahead and have it done. I payed $115 to have mine done.

    • jobs and better paying jobs.   that's about it for me.  Sure there are some perks, but I'd give it up in a second if I could come close to matching my income in Grand Rapids. What sort of field are you in?   Anymore it's all indeed, monster, or some sort of online service.  Maybe a recruiter can place you in something, but it might be a sucky job.  I went to a recruiter a few years ago and they could put me a job in a few days, but it was sort of on the edge of my field and the job sucked.  Still, if I was in a pinch, I'd do that in a heartbeat over sacking groceries.   Nobody reads the newspaper and C-list is for sex work and scams.
    • Thanks for the advice, we do know the areas that we like have liked in the past. Cities is a vague reference as most people up here call everywhere down there the cities. We would be looking at the west metro area or nw suburb area.   Job on is the big thing right now ideally my wife could take a few years off to raise our boys as typically the "cities" pay is more than up here.. I have been looking but what is the best way? Indeed? Newspaper? Clist?   We we are a good distance in a way but we are close to our families. When we get company we get them for 3 solid days. Also once we had our twins it was more so they could see there cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents more often than 1-2 times a year.
    • The gdp is right around 18 Trillion Dollars.   Ten years of that, including even a little nominal growth is north of $200 Trillion.   So you are talking about 4.5% over ten years.     And that is assuming that these economists are able to forecast accurately.   We had other economists telling us about the "multiplier" where a dollar of government spending increased GDP by way more than a dollar.     I didn't believe them either.
    • I put a few miles on this weekend as well. Out on the lake and back a few times. But, I was about a mile out!
