I'm looking to buy an fl-8 se this year. My question is what's the difference between the Genz pack and the pro pack? I know the cases are different and the price difference is around $20.

Other than the base, the only difference is the Pro pack comes with the battery indicator lights, where the Genz pack doesn't.

You may want to also take a look at the MarCum LX1.

If you are looking at the Vex, Take a serious look at the FL-18. The AutoZoom is worth the extra $100. I have one and it is almost like cheating when ice fishing. The 18 and the Marcum are priced the same.

The MarCum LX1 is actually only $299 retail. But who's counting.

The MarCum LX3 is $399 retail. One nice part about the LX3 is your zoom is adjustable in 5' to 10' increments throughout the water column. The Vex is stuck on the bottom 6'.

MarCum separation and IR is also better.
