1999 150HP Johnson Faststrike Problem

Boosey

Question

I have a 1999 150HP Johnson Faststrike - carburated. When I'm at idle or trolling slow, it loads up and dies. When I get it idling and give it gas to head out, it bogs down and dies. It only happens when the motor is warmed up and I'm moving place to place. To get it going, I have to run high in neutral for a while, then go. Once going, it's great - smooth to 50MPH, which is about right for the boat. Any troubleshooting help would be greatly appreciated.

I would have the carbs checked over good. There could be an air leak from one of the o-rings. First thing before this I would check the spark and compression to make sure the motor is in good shape. Also if you do alot of slow speed trolling I would decarbonize the motor with a good decarbonizer (powertune, engine tuner).
