Ice Fishing

With the warm weather... I am wondering what the ice conditions are like around the Willmar Spicer and New London area lakes. Is it just surface melt or did the warm weather weaken the ice considerably?

If you listen to the DNR spokesperson on the radio the ice is worthless and nobody should be out there? From what I remember it was something like 6 hours above freezing and the ice was 1/2 as strong? I think there is a little fear mongering going on in the media myself! I just heard a little bit of the clip and may have been mislead so someone may want to verify.

I'm not worried but this little warm-up and rain...Ice is still plenty 'safe'.

It will all freeze back up tonight/tomorrow. Going to need those ice cleats for a while though...

I was hesitant to drive out yesterday, but when I saw 8 or 9 full size trucks on the ice, I said "what the heck" lots of water on the ice, but I still trust it. everyone needs to take their own precautions and know the ice and lake they're on. Now with all the snow melted and sub-zero temps, ice should get really good except slippery!!
