Garmin Marine GPS that can use Mapsource?

GBPackerNut

Question

Been looking to add a GPS to the boat, but would like to find one that can use Mapsource files, so my LakeMaster ProMap's that I have will work on it, without dumping another $100 on more maps...

Any suggestions?

I like the Lowrance units, just would be nice to not have to dump money into maps again!

Depending on the model Marine Garmin GPS plotter unit you buy, all can read MapSource data, as it is Garmin's base format, and most if not all newer units will interface with LakeMaster formats.

Many Garmin GPS units are there own card readers, you will need the appropriate PC interface cable to upload them from CD to chips in the Garmin unit. I recommend you use the 2 gig SD/Micro SD combo chips, far more versatile in use over more Garmin models.

Check the Garmin web site. They will list the accessories needed for the model and what mapping is available for that series of GPS plotters.
