Fishing large snags-

I spent friday night fishing in a large snag (dtro and wastewaterguru know the one) and found lots of active fish, but only when casting tight to the snag. To prevent fish (at least in theory) from getting me wrapped up, I was only letting them take 2-3' of line when I had a bite. On a few hooksets I could feel the hook rip out of the bait when I set the hook so I started giving them more time. I was fishing with 40lb mono and a drag that was cranked down tight in hopes of getting the fish moved forward at least semi quickly. No problems with a few 7-10lbers, but the one nicer fished wrapped me up real quick

I know this just comes with the territory of fishing in snags, but does anyone use any types of 2 hook harnesses so that a quick hookset is more effective?
