Advice on a DIY Light Diffuser

Recommended Posts

Greetings folks. I am in the process of finding a solution for recording video/photos at night on my boat. With the limited amount of space I don't want to drag along much for additional gear. So, I figured I could make a DIY Light Diffuser for the front spotlight of my boat.

Here's the spotlight:

I was wondering if any of you have taken the DIY route and conjured up a light diffuser for your photo/video purposes? I was thinking of a thin type of paper or cloth that could disperse light a bit more evenly. Any thoughts? Cheers.

Best el cheapo DIY light diffuser I've seen is the white plastic opaque shower curtain liners. Only cost a few bucks. I built a diffusion tent out of two of them for flower photography, and they work great. You should easily be able to cut out a sheet for your light that you can duct tape to the light cover. And there's plenty of fabric left over for more diffusers if you crack/break the first one.
