Islandlaker
I'm getting a trolling motor for a 14 foot jon boat. I want to be able to have a nice "juice" to troll up a heavy river current, or on a real windy lake. What pound thrust should I look at? marine_man
50 - 55 lbs should be enough, unless you want to run 2 batteries and get a 24 volt system.Regardless, to have enough "juice" you're talking about running your batteries down quicker.marine_man

jwmiller33
i went with a 55lb MinnKota Maxxum on my 1985 16 foot Lund and I love it. If anything, I would have even gone bigger.
Islandlaker
I was looking at the 55 lbs minnkotta at gander myself. I think I am going to "pull the trigger" pretty soon on it.
