Floating dock supplies

Anyone have a good hook up for plastic barrels or other floatation devices for a floating dock construction? How about some advice for a good design?? I'm in Northern MN.

Our local John Deere dealership on Baudette has lots of nice blue plastic 50 gal. barrels for $10 ea. They had battery acid in them. I rinse them with baking soda and lots of water. Maybe all tractor dealerships have them.

There are some good books out there describing how to build floating docks, and securing them. I think one is called "The Dock Book", or something similar. Look at Barnes and Noble, or at their HSOforum.

check out a company called Merco Marine. They have everythin you need in heavy duty dock stuff, and plans as well
