9.9 honda long shaft

i bought a 2003 honda 9.9 long shaft from my neighbor for my 14 ft boat but some people tell me that a long shaft wont work on a 15in transom why doesnt this work and what can i do to make it work or would i be better off buying a short shaft and selling the long shaft

The gear case will sit too far down in the water. Will it push the boat? Oh yeah, but you will have quite a bit more drag and it may negatively affect safe handling, alot of spray and you will need to be very mindfull of shallow water.

I wouldnt recomend running it that way. You can make something up or take a look at something called the Transom Elevator, you can get an idea of what I'm talking about. Oddly enough I put 2 of those on last fall. ! I bought and 1 I had made.
