Minimum HP for a Kicker Motor

What is the minimum hp for a kicker (purely trolling) used on an Alumacraft TP170? Any idea? I am considering a 4 hp that has become available to me but was wondering if it would be too wimpy.

I would think if you are using it purely for trolling you should be fine, especially if the price it right.

I've been in boats with 6 hp kickers that did just fine, nothing smaller than that though but I think you'd be okay with a 4 HP. You may consider trying to get a high-thrust or power prop for the motor, that will make it more responsive and do a better job of controlling the boat.

I agree... it will work, but in some applications you may find yourself wishing for a little more.
