calli4120
I have a 04 AWD Buick Rainier V8 that has a real odd size tire and I'm looking for replacements. The tires currently on the truck are 255 60 R17's. Every store I've checked only had 1 or 2 sets available in this size and they were all special order. From the searching I've done on line the trail blazers, envoys, and even the 05 rainiers have 245 65 17's. Since this size is common, there are many more options and price ranges that I can look at.What would the negatives be about going this route? Would ride and performance change? Thanks in advanceAdam
Hafnutz
Should be able to go to the 245/65 with no problems. Diameter should be the same. The 255/60 is a little wider but not as tall.I wouldn't hesitate to change. Any "good" tire person will tell you the same thing.
calli4120
Thanks for the feed back.I figured that it would be ok but I was just surprised when I found out my current tires were different then what the blazers and envoys had. bassphish2005
remember...55-60-65-70-75 just mean tire hight and width,,,,so...60 are taller than 55....75 are taller than 60.and isn;t ground clearance what we are after with a 4x4,even an SUV? Jeremy airjer W
255/60R17255 = the tire width in mm.60 = the tires height is roughly 60% of the tires widthR = radial construction17 = rim diameter that the tire fits
