Air compresser

Ice Chicken

Question

I have a small upright 6.5 gal 1.5 hp oil lube compresser. It will only build up about 30 lbs of pressure and will never shut off. It is a couple of years old and I would be surprised if it had more than a couple hours running time on it. Any ideas anyone?

Sounds like it may have a stuck valve. If it has the reed type valves it is possible it has corroded a bit from sitting. I have had similar happen on an older compressor. I had to remove the head and clean up the valve reed with some steel wool and it worked well after that.

Do you hear any hissing like air is leaking. If you do the regulator releif line could be stuck open.
