zamboni
My mom stopped by our house today, and told me her wipers weren't working. I went out and pulled fuse, ok- not blown. Replaced it, and turned wipers on again and could hear the motor running, so motor seemed alright. The wipers weren't froze down. What could it be??? It is an 01 Taurus
fishhuntwork
Are the wiper arms turing in side of the wiper pivots? Maybe the arms are stripped out b/c they got turned on when they were frozen. Saw this happen alot to chryslers.
Jeremy airjer W
With the car turned off pull up on the wiper arms like you where manual making them move across the winshield. If you can move them back and forth by hand then the wiper arm nuts need to be tightened. Usually they are a 13mm and there is usually some sort of cap or cover over them. You only get lucky a couple of times before the splines are completely stripped. Making sure the blades are free from the winshield and making sure there is not an excessive build up of snow on the winshield will help prolong this from happening again! zamboni
I did move them by hand, and they both moved.
Scott K
If you move one, do both move?
zamboni
Yes
Scott K
It wont be the wipers being loose then. It would be the wiper mechanism, the piece that bolts to the wiper motor. You will need to remove the wipers, then the plastic bezzle below the windshield, then you will see the part that is broke or loose.
Jeremy airjer W
If they both moved in sink than for sure its time to pull the cowl and see whats up.
