Hey B-man, nice to meet you last week. How's your Dad doing? Is he still in the hospital or back home now?

Let me know if you still get down this way to see him, maybe we could get you on the river yet!

Hey DonBo,

Glad to hear from you! They had to keep my Dad a couple days more than we had hoped for, but I'm glad to say that he was able to go home today! His ct scans all looked good, but he still has some short term memory loss. Somebody (me, sister, stepmom, step brother) will have to be at home with him just to be certain that he takes the right meds at the right time. If I know my Dad he will be back at his office in a week or two smile

Like I said on the GTG thread, I'm sorry to show up all tear eyed, but when I say I'm going to be there I'm going to be there.

As for fishing, I'm laid-off every winter. I do work with a friend here and there, but I'm sure we can get out fishing! Just let me know of any dates you'd like go. As far as I can tell I'm open until March 21-25 (going to Denver to see some friends).

I truly look forward to hitting the ice with you smile

Glad to hear your Dad is doing good. I have some memory loss myself, but had more fun getting there than he did. blush

If you're interested in hitting the Croix, I'll be down there Friday afternoon and Saturday morning for sure. (weather permitting) Probably Sunday morning too. Mornings have been better.

Let me know if interested.

Hey Don,

I might be able to sneak out saturday morning. If you get this tonight shoot me back.

I went to see my Dad Thursday and snuck out to the river for a few hours before seeing him. I tried a few different areas and landed 2 small crappies and a small drum! Haven't caught one of those in years! I hope we can hook up and you can show me where to catch the pigs smilesmile

Also I had the dates wrong for our trip, I will be gone next sat-wed, not the following.

Hey Don,

Sorry I wasn't able to get out yesterday with you. My fiance had to work and we had a vet appointment for my male beagle Gunner at 10 a.m. He had his 3rd seizure (that we know of) on Friday so we wanted to get him in for a diagnosis. Some blood tests and $160 later we now know that he has epilespy. The vet said that is a somewhat common occurance in dogs and we can treat it with meds. After all of this bad stuff happening in the last week or two something good should happen soon!!

If you are headed out during the following week at all let me know and I will see if we can catch some fish yet!

Sorry, It may be close to being over for me. I'm working the MN Deer Classic Friday, Saturday we're seeing all our turkey hunting farmers and Sunday we're shooting pheasants at a game farm. I won't be able to get out during the week at all, too busy at work right now.

Too bad about your dog. Saw you post about the cougar. You said the wolves we're getting your hounds. You a bear hunter?

We caught a bunch of fish too, both yesterday and this morning. Just finished cleaning 7. All 10" - 12 1/2".

Hey Don glad you got some fish! Maybe we can get out next year smile

I've never been to the MN classic, but drove 3 times down to Madison in the last 7 years. If it's anything like that I know it's fun! I see you've posted a lot about Chilakoot. Is that why you're working the show? (I've shot there a few times, awesome setup you guys have going!!!!)

As for hounds, I have 3 beagles that I hunt snowshoes with around Spooner/Minong/Hayward. I personally haven't had an encounter with a wolf yet (fingers crossed), but I have friends that run bear and have lost hounds to them.

I saw that you are the moderator for the Grantsburg area! I don't get up that way to much, but was just tipped off of an area with a good density of snowshoes near Crex. My neighbor (Mark Leach) has a cabin and land up there like you. Not sure exactly where, but thought the name might ring a bell.

I look forward to running into you in the future smile

Don't recognize the name...I have a cabin just north of Crex. Used to have a buch of snowshoes around but not so much anymore, think you have to go a bit more east. Love to join you for that sometime!

I've been a member of Chilakoot since before I was born. My folks were among the founders way back in the 50's. Let me know if you wanna come down for a shoot sometime.

Yeah, we're working for Chilakoot. The club gets something like $1500 to work security for the 3 days, plus, free admission!

Sorry, I gotta go to work...

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
