Where to Hit in Vermillion?? Help please

Recommended Posts

I am planning a trip for May 30-June 6th to Vermillion - first time on the lake as I am not from MN and I fish Rainy mainly.

I am looking for some assistance on where to hit on the lake as well as what to look for (structure, bottom, cover) and patterns this time of year as I am speculating that the water should be in the 58-62 degree range - correct me if I am wrong. Considering usual ice off.

Please help me out with where to focus my fishing efforts as I am taking 3 guys with me and want to make sure they enjoy their trip - by catching a lot of fish (we do not keep pike) as we want them to grow for another day...it's one more fish with another chance to hit 45"+. Thank you in advance for your assistance - if you don't want to post here or if you want to email a map please email me at [email protected]

Dustin,

I'd try the west central section of the lake, from Wakemup Narrows up to the Vermilion Dam. Much of this area is flat, muddy and weedy. Lots of nice bays to fish. There should be many pike hanging around there after the spawn. Actually, a lot of pike reside there throughout the year...and some big ones!

Good luck...
