Early season tactics?

Any body have any suggestions to early season tactics such as grunting, rattling, mock scrapes? Does any of this work for you guys this early in the season is I guess the best way to put this. Just wondering if that is something to try down the line say in a few weeks or so or will those tactics work now.. thanks

I like doing alot of scouting prior to hunting and sitting there as quiet as can be. But rattling works best this time of year. The bucks are now determining their order of dominence and a hell off alot more deer spar now then in the peak of the rut. You could even throw in a couple of grunts with it. I wish I had the right answer for you but I hope this helps.

I just shot a eight pointer Mon. night and I belive I rattled him in. I had a rattle bag and rolled it in my hands a couple of times to make it sound like they were sparring. Two minutes later he walked within 12 yards...dead. I also threw in one soft grunt. It works as sort of a greeting grunt. Bucks are real curious this time of year because they are still in there bachelor groups and bucks are doing some playful sparring. Give it a try it can work. Good luck. PS.... I also did some scouting weeks before knowing the deer were using the area.
