Drop-N-Stay

Hookey

Question

I was watching a video on UTube about a Bungee cord that attaches to your anchor line. Drop-N-Stay. The video shows a scale attached to the line and shows the tension reduced on the rope as a result of using the product on a anchored boat in high winds. The visual seems to make sense.

It looks like a good idea but then I think about a hand tool called a rattler where the Bungee cord allows a person to easily pull a stuck sled out of deep snow. Or I think about a

"snatch strap" used to make it easier to pull stuck vehicle out of a ditch.

Help me out here how can the use of a bungee on a anchor line help keep your anchor stuck when a bungee on a Sled or truck helps get them unstuck.

Maybe I am over thinking this but I jus-don-get it. If they work I will buy one anyone use one ?

I don't have a drop n stay but I use a shock cord that attches between the rope and anchor, they do work. When your in waves the cord streaches to take the shock of the wave instead of lifting your anchor. I can get away with having my ropes 40% shorter buy using this.

I use a riechter anchor and they have you attach the anchor to the rope with a chain to help with setting and removing the anchor.

I am thinking the bungee would need to be kept out of the water so when you want to pull the anchor you do not have to deal with the stretch of the bungee. ?
