I had no choice but to jump into buying one since my other TV died an unexpected quick death. RIP Mitsubishi. It's pretty sad when the light engine fails and the part costs more than it would to just replace the entire TV with a new one. mad Oh well, it was a nice three years. crazy

In things like this I think one has to talk more or less in average/overall best.

Perhaps what disappoints me is that people are so quick to point out "burn in" which is pretty rare (have you seen it?) or glare on plasma.

Yet when it comes to LCD it's always the same "well, they're getting better all the time". What is the comparison, generally speaking? Yes, to plasma...getting better compared to plasma.

At the end of the day it is a personal choice, I cannot disagree, but the choice seems so clear to me. Sure, plasma tends to cost more in general, but no matter whether it's TOTL plasma or TOTL LCD, if you want caviar, you pay caviar price.

Yes I have seen burn in on plasmas. I have seen the glare on plasmas as more of an issue than anything else. There are a lot of people who purchase their new TV, get it home, hang it on the wall and realize that the opposite wall is a window. I guess is one to their own, but seeing anywhere from 5-10 different TVs on a daily basis, I would still go with LCD. Contrast ratio is still a factor, but for the most part, manufacturers are right on line with their contrast ratios on newer sets. Having a Panasonic with 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio isn't really going to increase the picture all that much more than any other TV. Your service is a big key in picture quality. Having installed Dish Network, Charter and DirecTv, I would easily choose Dish Network for their picture quality. But like I said before, to some it's their matter of opinion.
