I want to get a motor for my kayak. but don't know witch way to go, a trolling motor and batteries, or small gas engine. how long will a 40 pound thrust electric motor provide power, opposed to a small kicker gas engine.weight is also a issue what will keep me on the water best.

I had a 30 lb thrust on my 14 ft boat. I got a $80 battery from Fleet Farm. I could get three hours out of it. I don't know about running it constantly.

A place on Central ave north has 50 lb refurbished Enduras for $180.
