transducer wiring

spotty

Question

Does anybody know how to splice a new end on a transducer? I bought a zercom clearwater pro head, dumb I know, and zercom transducer but the ends are different. I also read that there is a possibility of just using a vexilar ice-ducer? Any help would be great.

The clearwater pro came in two different frequencies, Fish lectronics told me the vex transducer would work on the higher freq. unit but not the low freq. unit. They have new connectors that you can put on the cable to mate with the electronics. One thing that may cause problems is if the xducer does not mate to the electronics it's probably not the right xducer (but may still work). Hummin bird bought out Zercom and may still have drawings showing which wires go to which pins in the connector.

I called fish lectronics today and they seemed scared to tackle the wiring of the plug. They said the Pro is temperamental. I also email Hummingbird and they could just give me the old manual but not the wiring schematic. I looked at the Pro head wire connector and they use all 8 pins where on the classic ducer they only have 5 total wires??

The pro had a speedometer paddle wheel in the xducer as well as temp. Can you open the back shell on the connectors and see the wire colors ? Then match up the colors on both connectors? A long shot at best - Airmar made both xducers for my pro, they might be willing to disclose which color wires do what.
