Found out yesterday that my 4 y/o yellow lab has mast cell tumor. Has anyone ever had any expiernce with this? I know it may or may not be cancerous but it has to get removed. Does anyone know of a vet that specializes in surgery, our vet won't do it because it is located on her lower lip. Any help would be great!!!

I had a lab that had one on the back of his head, it was cancerous. The U of M is where I ended up and where I would recommend, but it will not be inexpensive. Their surgical abilities exceed what many vet clinics can offer. They also have an oncology department. You can get a referral from your vet or call direct, 612-625-1919.

Before we moved out further west we used Flying Cloud Vet Clinic, Dr. Harris. Our previous lab had 2-3 removed, one on each side and another near her rear, not on the hip, but close.

I would not hesitate one bit to call them. Dr. Harris is GREAT. You can tell he is most concerned about the well being of the animal.

GOOD LUCK

Have an appointment tomorrow morning to get it removed. Only thing the vet is worried about is that its on her lower lip and its pretty vascular there. I've brought my dog to him since she was a puppie and he is an older guy, so I feel he must be pretty seasoned by now.
