As of the last 2 weeks the steelhead fishing has been nothing shy of fantastic! Today and yesterday alone both myself and clients hooked over 20+ fish with several in the 15 lb class. It's shaping up to be a banner year for steelheading here so get the gear ready and come see us! Drifting spawn, tubes, hair jigs etc...and also have had a few fish taking fly's/yarn.

Eric,
Are you fishing the Lake Michigan tribs? All the stream flow data I've looked at and the the reports I've read say that the rivers are all but coming out of their banks.
I usually get over towards the Root once every spring and will only go during mid week because of big crowds and many disrespectful fisherman.
I fish some of the Lake Superior tribs as well.
Although last year and this year I've been heading up to Lake of the Woods for a late walleye bite. Late ice up there has been incredible for size and quantity of eyes.

Hammer, which Indian tribs are you talking about? I know of only a few in that area. Also is that the Root Beer factory down on 8th street you are talking about? I've heard that they offer 10 cent drafts on Wed. nights. Must be the reason you only go mid-week.

Yes I'm fishing the tribs of Lake-michigan and yes some of the rivers are just now settleing down like the root and Milwaukee rivers, but several other rivers have been stacked, I mean stacked with steelies. The last 2 trips I did Weds, and Thurs with beginning steelheaders both caught and released over 10 fish, and missed many many more. I got alot of really great pictures of both clients Almost all drifting spawn and tubes. I try to shy away from the root due to the crowds...I prefer to fish other rivers where the fishing is better and you do not fight crowds.

Best of Luck!

Eric

Hi Eric, welcome to FM! FM could use some reports comeing from that part of the state. Sounds like some outstanding fishing going on down there! Are most rivers and streams experiencing a good run of fish? Some better than others? Odd, I fish avidly for fall run fish but only fished the spring run on a couple of occcasions, mainly Peshtigo, Mennominee, Kewaunee, and Sturgeon Bay. Open water fishing is usually out of Kewaunee.
Eric, if you check out some of the posting info you'll find instructions on how to post pictures, the section discussing UBB and HTML touches on this. Some recent photos of your successful trips are welcome. It's nice to see "results" with reports, gets everyone fired up. Hope to hear other reports when you can!
Thanks, Mark Hoffmann/can it be luck?

Dog-Eye,
I hear you're changing your dates for Lake of the Woods and are coming up when we are? Did you find a place to stay?
Good to hear. With comments like yours above, you know I'm gonna have to take you down and give you a face full of slush for being such a smart a$$.
Good to hear your dad's doing okay. I'll see you next Saturday at the wrestling tournament.

Hey Mark,

I live in Milwaukee and fish primarly from Sheyboygan south to the Ill. border.

This spring has been very good, did another trip yesterday and in a half day we landed 8 fish and clients missed 7-8 others.

I'm not the most computer savy guy so if it's something too difficult to figure out I usually pass. Feel free to info me if your coming down for river conditions.

Last 2 days with one client each day has been great fishing!

Landed 16-17 today and 18 yesterday. All drift fishing. If you want to check out some awesome pics of some of the big steelies we released e-mail me.

Fishing continues to be fantastic with 10+ fish days now very common! The cold water has dropped the fish back in the holes and held up the early runners spawning attempts.

Mostly driftfishing still.
