Feeding Hammer Handles

I'm more than a bit concerned about how much walleye stocking is going to feed hammer handle pike and tiny panfish.

Take Leech Lake for instance, the state is pouring (Legislated) millions of fish into a lake that you cant hardly keep a jig tied on or cast a Muskie bait from these dink pike.

Many that I talked to this weekend at the round table had the same concerns, some lakeshore assn's have taken matters into their own hands to regulate Pike. MN has done a great job with Walleye, Trout, Bass and Muskie management, but they have dropped the ball on Panfish and Pike management with the exception of a few lakes.

When we are paying to stock a lake, they should first provide conditions so these fingerlings and fry don't have to survive a run through a million micro snakes and insect sized Panfish.

I think the reverse alarm on the stock truck is resonating as a dinner bell at our expense.

When do we demand a better balanced fishery and more bang for our stocking buck for all Minnesotans.
