Gatores
I have a 92 Toyota Camry and my rear struts are shot and wondering if it is a job that most can tackle. I have never replaced a strut but done lots of shocks. Just wondering if I can doing something that I should just pay someone else to do it.Thanks
Jeremy airjer W
The nuts and bolts are no problem once you have the back seat, side cushions, rear decklid liner, and rear tires removed. You will need a spring compressor to change the strut once the entire assembly is removed from the car.
ChuckN
I helped replace 4 struts on a late 90's Camry not long ago. It's relatively easy unless you run into small rusted bolts like we ran into that needed to come out. Those small bolts made the job terrible. I would get some good penetrating oil and soak the bolts the day before you tackle the job. One of the bolts required an allen wrench of all things, and that was stripped immediately. We used a cheap, simple spring compressor and an impact driver to assist with the spring compressor, and it made much easier.I would recommend another person to help. It's a tough one man job trying to secure the new struts while holding it into place.

It's actually pretty easy once you have done a couple hundred!
