chuckwagon
Has anyone made a bed cover from wood? I have a ext. cab pick up with 6'5 bed. Any help with a plan or tip on how to do it would be awesome!
Hafnutz
I think you could probably find a used roll up cover for less than it will cost to make a wooden one. Just a suggestion.
Shack
I have seen it done, but never done it my self. Are we talking tonneau style, utility or just a wood cover you lift off?
chuckwagon
Im looking to keep fish house safe so I can leave it in the back of my pick up. Plywood that covers the bed and is locked there. The fish house can be slid in and out underneath it just like a tounoe cover. I was thinking if I put some tie down anchers in the stake pockets and then drilled holes in the plywood so the anchers would fit through the holes, and put some locks through the tie down points. Then You would not be able to lift the plywood off the truck securing the fish house. I am trying to be cheap for now i already have the wood. I am getting a roll cover in spring but want something now because loading and unloading is a pain every night (truck doesnt fit in garage)! Hafnutz
That being the case..Why not just build a light framework and cover it with some 1/4 inch plywood. Crawl inside and bolt it down through the stake pockets. Usually they have some holes in the bottom but you would have to use pretty long bolts. It won't open up but maybe that wouldn't matter. There's also a ton of used toppers around if it's an older truck you can get one almost free.
