Cold Temps LCD GPS

Professional Edge

Recommended Posts

Hello all.

I have a Eagle Intellimap that I plan on putting on my sled for ice fishing. Has anybody had trouble with LCD being damaged in cold temps? If so does anybody have a suggestion to keep it warm?

It is an older unit so I am willing to take a risk on it. I just like the larger screen it has compared to the smaller handhelds.

I would think if you keep it in the truck while going to the lake and bring it in the shack once your their it may work. Not sure the effects of wind chill though the unit would be subject to while on the sled. I know in the past I have left units in the boat with no ill effects but I think I got lucky.

I use an Intellimap on my BearCat. I have more trouble snapping

off power cords and module cables than freezing LCD screens.

My wife is making a pouch that will fit over the screen with a

couple of christmas tree lightbulbs inside. I can plug it in

at night so I dont have to take it off the sled.

During the day I havent had trouble with freezing the screens

but I havent been out in -30 degrees much. I am going this

weekend to give it a try.
