can it be luck?
Fished the river this weekend, bass and walleye are on the feed. Dubay areas to fish, any bridge areas fishing the rip-rap or the main river S. from Mosinee Dam to Dubay in 2-6 FOW. Artificials can and will work, but a jig or hook/shot and 1/2 crawler is tough to beat! Below Moon Dam was just plain crazy! Species being caught are walleye, bass, catfish, and the elusive carp. A lot of shore fisherman were doing better than the boats. Slip sinkers or three way rigs baited with crawlers and fatheads cast out then set on a forked stick. Bites comeing fast and the fish takeing them deep. A couple of legal walleye and a lot of small ones, with the 15" min. size limit you will be cutting a lot of hooks off smaller fish that swallow the bait. I pinch down the barbs to reduce fish mortality. It's a shame, but also a reality, to see walleye floating around dead. There are days when you can catch hundreds of short walleye and hardly any legals. A lot hooked deep and have to be thrown back. It seems a waste to put a dead fish in the water when it could be eaten. Just my thoughts. can it be luck? [This message has been edited by can it be luck?
