Are there any crappies left?

I was wondering if anyone has heard how the crappies are doing on Red Lake? I'm planning a weekend up there this winter. I never been on the lake so some advice on where to get on or pleasant experiences with resorts would be appreciated.

Eagles may fly, but weasels never get sucked into jet engines!

Red Lake is still an excellent crappie fishery. We had good success out there last winter for the ICE Series, and the fish are still big. A lot of 12-14 fish and occasional 15 inchers.

It depends on the day. Of the 10 to 12 days I fished it last year 50% were limit days, 30% we caught crappie and walleye all day, 20% is was terrible. Best crappie fishing is on a cloudy day after 3:00 PM.

Red is still a very good slab crappie fishery.

The fishing can be tricky at times and almost too easy at other times.

Walleye opener is a little over a year and a half away. Thery're looking good too.
