HUMMER 55
so do you just screw a eyelet in the bottom of the fake decoy and run the line down to the live one from that?
bassNspear
no, i tied it around the decoy. The problem with the eye, is they can pull out, or break the line. Tie it right around the decoy.
tca12
I make a a steel leader slipknot that I put over the decoy in front of the decoy screw eye and then down behind the steel fins below the decoy so it can't slide off front or back. Doesn't seem to change the balance of the fake decoy although I don't usually use a real large sucker minnow. Since we can now angle one line in a spearhouse, I use a hook to hold the live minnow just in case a pike grabs it and tries to run. I've actually pulled in a few small pike this way. bassNspear
i run all different sizes! You never really know what size the pike are looking for, so you just run it on whatever they have. I dont like to go big though if i have a choice
Hammer Handle
I use both. Very large sucker and several types of decoys I can drop. I usually don't leave the decoy down the whole time.Usually I have two decoys that I can drop and two different sizes. I also use a red/white daredevil with no hook or even a flattened beer can on a line. These can work when decoys don't.
