Help Brakedrum

Recommended Posts

I have a 95 Ford Escort and I cant get the brakedrum off. There should be a slot on the back of the backing plate to turn the star wheel but there isnt.I removed the bearing nut and the drum is loose but wont come off.

There should be 2 threaded holes in the face of the drum, take a 1/4 inch bolt and screw the bolt in, and it will pop the drum off. If the threads dont strip first.

try tightening the two bolts, but not too much, then tapping the drum with a hammer a little, tighten bolts, hit with hammer, and repeating until it comes off. may help a little without stripping the threads

Those should be "knock off" drums. There should be no need to remove a nut for the bearing. Make sure you to torque the nut when you put it back on. Otherwise don't be afraid to whack it with a hammer to break it loose from the hub!
