i work for the minn dnr in grand rapids on the mississippi, st. louis, and bigfork rivers. during lunch break me and my co worker would like to try fishing for catfish. any tips on how i would rig for catfish using some night crawlers would be greatly appreciated. i am an absolute beginer on catfishing so any help would be appreciated. thanks

I've had good luck shore fishing for channels with a nitecrawler, leech or cut sucker on a #4-1/0 hook on a 2' snell and a 1/2-2 oz barrel sinker. Hook size depends on the size of the bait you'll be using. Many guys are using cirle hooks for channels but I haven't made that jump yet.

Channels can be anywhere from a deep hole or channel to 2 ft of water during the day.
