Our 40hp Evinrude has a delay when throttling up or down.(counsel) It kind of walks up and down at a different rate than the throttle control. I'm guessing throttle cable linkage. Anyone have any other ideas or experience? Thanks

Sounds like slop in the throttle cable - check under the hood and see if it moves as you'd expect when you adjust the controls. You may need to adjust them to take the slop out. It's pretty straightforward - you should be able to figure it out once you look at it.
