Shiners or Suckers?

Do any of you prefer one over the other while fishing tip'ups? Why?

Shiners seem to work better. Downfall is they are very hard to keep alive. We freeze the dead ones and use them like that.

I like shiners, there cheaper and seem to add more flash to attract fish.

I fish a chain of lakes, on one suckers work the best while on the other end silver shiners are the ticket. I use only golden shiners on the river.

Definitely depends on the lake you're fishing. One lake that I fish quite often is primarily a sucker bite on tip-ups while another lake I fish is most always a shiner bite. Do a little experimenting and see what works best.
