HELP - Can Motor Mount Bolt Ever be Too Tight????????

New boat - just going over a few things after before yesterday's trip to the lake and for some reason I decided to check the 4 motor mount nuts. They were not loose but they were not very tight either. I tightened them down some - just so they were difficult with my grip at about 6" on the wrench handle - I would guess around 35 - 40 #'s of torque. I don't want to overtighten them - is there any reason they should not be tightened even more. If anyones has specific torque values that would be even better. Thanks - I appreciate it! Paul

are they lock nuts or not? If it makes you feel any better mine is an old 40HP evinrude and it just uses the screws in front of the motor I would imagine it depends on size of motor and type of transom fiberglass vs aluminum

If you tightened them until you couldn't tighten them anymore without a cheater bar I think you'll be just fine.
