I believe they changed the regs this year so you can indeed use a 22-250 for deer (assuming it is a centerfire)

as per the article in the Strib:

"• The minimum cartridge requirement for big game hunting now will be a centerfire .22 or larger caliber. "

The only problem with the 22 cal for big game is the small holes. I hunted kentucky two years ago and my buddy was using a 223 62gr barnes triple shock x and shot two deer. He killed both but both had bad blood trails, because there was no exit hole. The 22-250 might be better, but may be a little small for deer.
