Homemade Canopy for Boat lift

Has anyone ever made a homemade canopy for a boat lift? I need to make one for a smaller lift because the 14' boat thats going to be on it this year has a wood carpeted floor that I would like to protect.

I have heard of making it out of conduit and a cheap tarp, and it sounds like that should work. Anyone ever did this or has any better ideas ? I'm all ears...

I'd just buy a good boat cover, even the factory made canopy's can get shredded in a strong wind.

I did that with a boat a few years ago, and the cover trapped the moisture inside. The floor then rotted out. The best thing is to have a cover over it and let air dry out. Thanks for the reply!

I made one exactly that way a few years ago before I finally sprung for a factory canopy.

It worked fine for a couple of years!

I have seen some with PVC pipe and the fiberglass coragated roofing sheets. I don't know how long the PVC pipe would last in the sun and wind
