Duck Eyes

I noticed on the Hooded Merganser and Ring Neck Duck photos I took that their eyes are recessed into their head almost like they are pinned tightly on with the feathers above and below the eyes "poofed" out of the way. This seems to give the duck a 180 degree view of its surroundings on each side of the head. Obviously a prey survival adaptation. I never noticed it before this dramatically until I viewed my photos.

I always love head-on shots of those ducks. Gives them a cool and slightly goofy look.
