jeepguy
I run a mercury 25 with electric start, a minnkota 44 lb thrust trolling motor, a depth finder, lights, and a small pump. I already have a cranking battery for the motor. Would a size 24 or 27 be more suitable for this application. And if I woudl they both also be able to start my merc 25 if need be? RiverBassGuy
If you purchase a Dual Purpose battery you will be able to operate your trolling motor and accessories, and still be able to start your motor in an emergency. I would not recommend buying one battery to cover everything. If you're main purpose is powering the trolling motor, I would buy a 24 because there's not much more reserve capacity on a 27. You're only adding weight and losing more $ out of your pocket. A 27 might get you another half hour throughout the course of an entire day. If that's worth it to you, then buy a 27. I have a 24v sytem and by chosing 27's I would've added 40lbs of unnecessary weight to the boat.
