crackle question

anyone have any suggestions on how to get rid of them dang nabit crackles at the feeders. they are mean birds and chase away all the others not to mention they make a mess and waste the seeds.

Glenn, there's little you can do to get rid of grackles that won't also get rid of other birds. There are some types of feeders that have mesh cages that only small birds can get through, but that keeps away some of the desirable larger birds as well.

Grackles most often only are a problem in spring and fall. Once they start nesting you don't generally see them in any numbers at the backyard feeder.

Grackles seem to shy away from feeders where one of their buddies is laying nearby en route to its great reward.

I find they hang around with one or 2 in that condition and then there's 4 or 5 dead
