Big Jeff
I am looking for an inexpensive kicker plate to mount a 55PD trolling motor. I will never run anything more powerful than that but I looked around and there some kicker plates out there but they are all $100-$200 bucks. I am wondering if any one knows of a good alternative or if anyone out there has ever welded something up. I am tiring to keep cost and weight down as this boat is already really heavy and not worth any big investments.. The boat is a 1974 fiberglass Larson Tri Hull and the only area on the transom to mount the motor is taken up by the 65hp merc and its steering linkage and the front will not support a bow mount, please let me know your ideas. Thanks for your help!

marine_man
Unfortunately I think you're out of luck here... unless you know a good aluminum welder to make a knockoff mount you'll probably have to get one of the ones designed for a kicker motor. One other option might be a Pontoon Motor Bracket that Minn Kota sells that might allow you to mount it on a horizontal surface.marine_man
